There are a million photos of Portland Head Light, so the challenge when shooting it, is to look for something interesting and different when you get there. Well, there's really only one thing that changes from day to day - the sky.

So, now I have many photos of the light with many different skies.

Flax or not flax? That is the question...

I believe this is blue flax, which is not native to the northeast, however it was being cultivated in the Garden at the Pineland Agricultural Center, so, its very possible its not native.

Swan Island sits in the middle of the Kennebec River south of Augusta. Its a 4.5 mile long island run by the state, and home of the Steve Powell Wildlife management area. Lots of interesting wildlife (including nesting eagles and osprey), and a bunch of uninhabited turn of the century homes and buildings. Its an interesting mix.

Life throws things at you and you have to deal with these things as they come. For instance, you walk out of a restaurant into a parking lot and are confronted with a great end to end rainbow. Well, not much you can do, but grab the camera nd find whatever interesting foreground you can, in this case the 2 bikes. I admit, I'd rather not have the white pick-up, but what are you gonna do?
